Looking into Buying Acoustic Left Handed Guitars?
Being able to play acoustic left handed guitars is not something that comes easily, even if you happen to be left handed in real life. While lefty guitars tend to look similar to righties, they are definitely different when it comes to playing each one. If you want to impress your friends and by learning to play on acoustic left handed guitars, you might want to take heed of the following tips and tricks. They’ll give you an idea of what you can expect before you choose to invest your money in one of the awesome lefty guitars you see on the market.
Practice Technique
Whether you want to play “left handed” or “right handed”, you will be using both of your hands to play either way. Playing right handed means you’ll strum the cords with your right hand, and you will create the tones on the neck of the guitar with your right hand. Playing as a lefty requires you to simply reverse the job for each hand. You can practice some with your right handed guitar to see if it’s something that you can see yourself learning to do before you choose to invest in one of the many acoustic left handed guitars out there.
Get Something Affordable
Until you have had a chance to practice for real and to decide whether you will actually continue pursuing left handed playing, invest in acoustic left handed guitars that are affordable and designed for beginners. This way you aren’t throwing a ton of money away on professional lefty guitars just to turn around and let them collect dust in the corner of your music room.
There are a number of affordable options on the market, and there are a lot of cheap ones out there too. Don’t confuse the two terms because a cheap model won’t even give you the opportunity to see if you truly like the play, the sound, and the feel of the guitar. A quality, affordable guitar is the best way to go if you want to get good sound and a solid opportunity with the instrument.
Practice New Songs
Once you do get your hands on lefty guitars, you should consider choosing brand new songs that you don’t already know how to play when you start to learn the left handed technique. This way you won’t get frustrated when you can’t play the songs you already know easily. It is a steep learning curve going from playing as a right handed guitarist to a lefty. Make it easy on yourself and start at square one. Before you know it you’ll be comfortable and savvy about the technique in no time.
